Cake Toppers

It is true that over the last few years traditional cake toppers have given way to flowers and other different, quirky toppers. Lately though, they are becoming more popular again and why not when there is such a huge variety now.

Wedding Transportation

Although many reception halls offer guest houses, not all brides and grooms want to go that route and then the transport from the venue to the hotel often slips their mind. Traditionally it is the best man and maid of honour's duty to slip out half way through the reception to decorate the bride and groom's get-a-way car or guests join in to trash the car depending on the couple's personality and whether or not they would find that funny. Old shoes are often tied to the back of the car because was believed to ward off evil spirits. Tin cans were also used because they would be noisy and draw attention to the newlyweds.

Unique Guest Favours

It is in good etiquette to give your wedding guests a favour to thank them for attending your wedding. Lately it is so refreshing to see that brides and grooms are coming up with new, original favours that match their personalities and wedding style. There are endless possibilities (no matter what your budget is) if you just try to be creative with a touch of practicality.

Gold Wedding Inspiration

Board by Bianca van Rooyen (Just Bee Fashion)

This Seat is Reserved...

At many of the weddings I have attended lately it seems as if people have forgotten who is meant to sit where. Traditionally the closest family should sit nearest to the front of the ceremony area and for a Christian wedding the bride's family and friends sit on the left with the groom's family and friends on the right. Jewish wedding ceremonies are the opposite, therefore as bride and groom it is very important to decide where you want people to be seated and you need to inform your ushers. The bride's mother is always the last to be seated as this signals that the ceremony is about to begin. If you do not want people to forget at your wedding, you not create this beautiful reserved signs to get your message across?

Unique Wedding Guest Books

A guest book is one of the very traditional items brides and grooms still incorporate into their weddings today but instead of using the simple wedding book that guests just sign and write in, most couples are looking for something different. It may seem difficult to come up with a new way of doing this but you should try find something that suits your personalities and would fit in with the rest of your decor at home. Try to come up with a guest book that can be used as a decor piece instead of just being read once and put away in the back of a cupboard.
